Mr. Patrick Dransfield简历

Patrick Dransfield is the Publishing Director of Pacific Business Press, hosts of the In-House Congress series of events and publishers of Asian-Counsel magazine.  Patrick has over fifteen years of publishing experience and eight years of working directly within law firms as Marketing and Business Development Director for Asia – as well as experience of both investing in and advising a start-up Web 2.0 company based in Asia (Pumkin: Digital English Learning). 

 

Between 1987 to 1996, he worked for Haymarket Publishing on their motoring titles Autocar, Autosport and Classic & Sportscar.  From 1996 to 2001 he worked for Euromoney Institutional Investor as Asia Publisher of International Financial Law Review (IFLR) and Managing Director of Asia Law & Practice, and published AsiaLaw, China Law & Practice, IP Asia and numerous books on China, including ‘Life & Death of a Dot Com in China’, and ‘Obtaining PRC Approvals for FIEs and Infrastructure Projects’.  He recently completed eight years of in-house marketing and business development as Director of Marketing - Asia for Shearman & Sterling and White & Case respectively. 

 

Patrick holds a Masters degree in Chinese History, Anthropology and Politics from the School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), University of London ; and is a graduate of Leeds University (BA Joint Hons. in English and History of Art; Joint Hons).  Patrick’s first sojourn in China was from December 1985 to December 1986 where he was an English lecturer at Beijing Normal University and a photographer / researcher for the Beijing bureau of Newsweek magazine.  He is a keen photographer and has held two solo exhibitions of his work in Hong Kong – his photographs have been published in many books, magazines and newspapers including the Financial Times, South China Morning Post, the Far East Economic Review, China Now and Home & Interior.
